Merry Hill – Glare Window Film

Reduced brightness with the application of window film Merry Hill shopping centre in Brierley Hill near Dudley is home to over 250 shops, retail park, cinema and an Eat Central food hall. With over ten thousand car parking spaces, a lot of people visit the centre every day and a lot choose to eat in the food hall. Covering the food hall is a large glass roof that whilst it allows copious amounts of natural light in it can also become uncomfortable for customers sitting in direct, bright sunlight. Window film installation to reduced heat from sun rays Even with the most modern of glass, solar control is difficult with so much non insular roofing causing the seating area underneath to become overheated. Guardian installed Hanita Silver 20 XTRA Solar Control and Anti Glare Window Film to the external sloping roof which has led to a reduction of heat by 85% and a glare reduction of 80% whilst still allowing the natural light to be the prominent feature of the space. As usual, the precarious task was undertaken with stringent health and safety guidelines being followed. Guardian’s installations director Steve Matthews regularly supplies our staff with full health and safety training and so we were able to complete the job efficiently and with minimal risk. As a precaution, the shopping centre was closed when the work was carried out and as well as full personal protective clothing safety harnesses and lanyards were also used to anchor the workers to the roof. The installation of anti glare properties to the Merry Hill shopping centre has been a great success and a concrete example of the difference their application can make to customer’s shopping experience. Customers of the busy shopping centre and food hall can now enjoy the same service without any of the discomfort of sitting in glare or magnified heat.
